The Art of Leaving
april 11, 2025

There’s something sacred about those final hours before a trip begins. The slow zip of a bag being packed, the smell of coffee brewing for the road, the quiet buzz of anticipation in the air. It’s a ritual—a gentle letting go of everyday life and a turning toward something unknown, something new.
The sun is finally out, warming the van as you check the last things off your list. Somewhere in the cupboard, your favorite road snacks are waiting—the ones you swore you’d save for later but probably won’t. The playlist is ready. The route is loosely drawn. And your whole body feels it: the need for quiet, for space, for a real breath after weeks of busyness.
This is what we travel for. Not just the views, but the pause. The shift. The soft click back into rhythm with ourselves.
And there’s always a moment—maybe while fastening a bag in the back, or filling the water tank—where memories from past trips bubble up. That winding road through the hills. That night you stayed up talking under the stars. They come back not to make you nostalgic, but to remind you: there’s more out there waiting.
So we get ready. We prepare our van, our things, and maybe—without even realizing it—our hearts. Because adventure doesn’t always knock loudly. Sometimes, it starts with a sunny morning, a deep exhale, and a van door closing behind you.
